The AW109 POWER is part of a larger AW109 family and was chosen as a training aircraft because it resembles the Military variant of the AW109 aircraft, the AW109LUH. The AW109 POWER is a lightweight, twin engine, multipurpose helicopter. The helicopter has four composite blades, fully articulated main rotor with elastomeric bearings and a semi-rigid two composite-bladed tail rotor system. It also incorporates a dual fully separated fuel system, dual hydraulic system, dual electric system, and dual redundant lubricating system for the main transmission and the engines. The fuselage and tail are of aluminium alloy for the primary structure and of fibre composite material for the secondary structure. The landing gear is a three-wheel, retractable, tricycle type. The main characteristics of the AW109 POWER are the following: Functional cabin layout designed for high operational flexibility and for quick and easy reconfiguration. The great flexibility of the cabin layout and the wide range of optional equipment available make the AW109 POWER suitable for different applications such as: Passenger transportation, VIP and Executive transportation, Emergency Medical Service (EMS), Search and Rescue (SAR) operations, Law Enforcement, Offshore passenger transportation, Harbour Pilot Shuttle (HPS), Utility operations (fire fighting, sling load carrying, news gathering, etc.)
