Squadron Prints Lithograph No. 1140 - Westland Lynx of the Fleet Air Arm and Army Air Corps.
It shows the badges of: 700L Sqn, 702 NAS, 815 NAS, 829 NAS, 847 NAS, 3 CBAS, 652 Sqn, 654 Sqn, 655 Sqn, 657 Sqn, 659 Sqn, 661 Sqn, 669 Sqn, 671 Sqn and 672 Sqn.
The Lynx variants shown are: Lynx HAS2 XZ238, Lynx HAS3S ZD256, Lynx HMA8(DSP) ZF562, Lynx HMA8(SRU) ZD261, Lynx AH1 XZ190, Lynx AH7 XZ678, Lynx AH9 ZG914 and Lynx AH9A ZG920.
This print has been produced to mark the 40th Anniversary of the first flight of the Westland Lynx on 21st March 1971 in conjunction with the 25th Anniversary of the world speed record, set on 11th August 1986. The Lynx achieved a speed of 199.91 mph (321.74 km/h), a record which still stands today.
For over 35 years the Westland Lynx has served the Fleet Air Arm and Army Air Corps, from the HAS 2 and AH1 through to the HMA 8 SRU and the AH 9A. They have operated worldwide earning numerous battle honours from the Falklands 1982, Northern Ireland 1979-2007, Kuwait 1991, Iraq 2003-2009 and currently serving in Afghanistan since 2006.
