The Armed Forces Parade and Muster at Windsor Castle on 19 May 2012 formed part of the celebrations for Her Majesty The Queen\'s Diamond Jubilee. Almost 2,500 troops from all three Services paraded through Windsor Castle and town before Her Majesty and The Duke of Edinburgh. The troops then mustered in the Castle grounds for a unique event witnessed by an audience of 3,000 HM Armed Forces personnel, veterans and their families. The parade was opened at 11:00 hrs by a flypast of nine Typhoon aircraft from 3, 6, 11, 17 and 29 Squadrons. At the end of the parade, a flypast comprising 78 aircraft from all three Services took place. The Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft is a twin engined, canard-delta wing, multirole fighter capable of flying supersonic. In January 2011 Typhoon passed the 100,000 flying hours across the entire fleet and flew operationally in Operation Ellamy policing the No Fly Zone over Libya. Typhoon aircraft are on standby 24 hours a day and 7 days a week to police the skies over the UK with Northern QRA being based at RAF Leuchars in Fife and Southern QRA being based at RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire. These aircraft will also be heavily involved with policing the skies when the 2012 Olympic Games are held in London.
