Squadron Prints Lithograph No. 1214 - Shadow R1, ZZ418, 14 Squadron, RAF Waddington.
The Beechcraft King Air 350 Shadow R1 entered operational service with the RAF on 21 July 2009 as a Flight within No V (AC) Squadron, RAF Waddington. The aircraft saw immediate service in support of Operation HERRICK. From small beginnings, over the ensuing 2 years the operational tempo for the Shadow Force increased markedly.
On 14 October 2011 the Flight reformed as No 14 Squadron at RAF Waddington. On 19 July 2012 the Shadow R1 completed its 10,000th operational hour. In July 2012, in recognition of the hard work of its personnel and the outstanding success of the Shadow R1, No 14 Squadron was awarded the RAF No 1 Group Operational Performance Award. Subsequently, in August 2012, No 14 Squadron achieved Full Operational Capability.
