Description

Squadron Prints Lithograph No. SP257 - 29th Tactical Fighter Weapons Group, Cheongju Air Base, republic of Korea.

The 29th Tactical Fighter Weapons Group was established at Suwon Air Base on 15 October 1979, formerly Tactical Development and Training Center under R.O.K. Air Force (ROKAF) Operations Command, in order to enhance ROKAF fighter pilots’ combat capabilities and develop  tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs). On 7 April 1981, the training center was moved to Cheongju Air Base for better training environment and officially changed its unit name to the 29th Tactical Fighter Weapons Group on 1 May 1988. Currently, the Weapons Group consists of the 191st Fighter Training Squadron, 192nd Weapons and Tactics Development Squadron (also known as Weapons School), a Maintenance Squadron, the Air Combat Maneuvering Instrumentation(ACMI) Operations Squadron, the Electronic Warfare School, and the Aggressors Squadron. As a unique “Top Gun School”, the Weapons Group plays a key role in terms of improving warfighters’ combat capabilities, developing TTPs, and formulating Large Force Employment (LFE) exercise in the Korean Peninsula, such as KFT (former Max Thunder), CFTE, and Soaring Eagle.
