#492FS01 492 FS Strike Eagle 'Happy Birthday Angus' Patch

Description
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANGUS!
‘Angus’ a 90+ year old gentleman who sadly has succumbed to a horrid disease and is now being looked after in hospital. He has worked all his days and is a family man but one thing we have in common is our love of Aviation. For very many years aircraft have use the glen where he lived and it was the highlight of his day several days of the week. All were routine training flights and over the years Angus managed to get in touch with some of the crews and became great friends with stations, squadrons and personnel alike but in recent years it has got less and less due to cutbacks. Many people visited him with family and he became an honorary member of several squadrons. As he and I are both honorary members of the same squadrons and friends of local RAF Stations this is how I got to know the great man himself. A humble man who has worked all his days and is now struggling with memory issues.
Earlier in the year, through some mutual friends, we got news of a training flight close to where he lived and with the great help of some nurses in his ward we took him on an adventure to an old airfield nearby so that he could watch them fly past. Memories are special and the sight of these aircraft brought the ‘old Angus’ back - it was hugely emotional as he watched excitedly arms raised and smiling from ear to ear.
This patch is being worn on 22nd April by the 492nd Fighter Squadron at RAF Lakenheath as a tribute and a fund-raiser for the ward that ANGUS is being cared for. This is the story of the patch:
It shows the magnificent flight of F-15E Strike Eagles
It shows the Bolar Hat
It shows the great man himself as “The Golden Boy” and how he was on the day arms raised and excited.
It also shows his magnificent moustache.
It shows Glen Esk and the river.
We included the Stars and Stripes and the Union Jack in the sky as partners.
The 492nd Tail band with “Guns Up for Angus”
Hook only backing
All the profits will be given to the Comfort Fund where Angus is being cared for.
